Dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities through sustainable development initiatives since 1978.
The Local Initiatives Development Agency (LIDA) is a dedicated non-governmental organization founded in 1978 to address the pressing challenges faced by vulnerable populations in Kenya. Officially registered as an NGO in 1999, LIDA has consistently worked to tackle key issues such as access to healthcare, food security, environmental degradation, and poverty.
LIDA was founded to address the unique challenges faced by marginalized populations in Kenya by fostering local solutions to local problems. Our approach emphasizes community participation, advocacy, and partnerships to create a lasting impact.
LIDA exists because many communities, especially those in underserved areas, lack access to essential services, opportunities for economic growth, and platforms to voice their concerns. Recognizing this gap, LIDA is committed to bridging it by working closely with communities to identify their needs and co-create strategies that foster equity and resilience. Through our work, LIDA seeks to ensure that no one is left behind in the journey toward development and dignity.
